Centralized mail and package delivery is often a last-minute design consideration that creates confusion due to the intersection of various federal compliance and accessibility requirements. This course explains how different mailbox installation types meet accessibility standards while remaining in federal and postal compliance and elevating mail areas from functional spaces to social ones.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • State the accessibility and general mailbox installation specification differences between the United States Postal Service (USPS), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Fair Housing Act (FHA).
  • Specify the proper space-planning requirements for centralized mail and package delivery equipment to meet these requirements.
  • Describe appropriate design strategies based on accessibility standards for residential centralized mail and parcel delivery equipment.
  • Improve collaboration with US Postal Service officials to support the successful approval of centralized mail and package delivery designs.

Approximately 1 hour. Delivered online, at your own pace.
