Waterproofing thru Overburden: A How To for Green Roof Design

With the rise in popularity of green roofing, many municipalities are adopting requirements for sustainable design from LEED and other sources. As this creates an increased frequency, design professionals require an increased level of knowledge as to how to create green roofs within the framework of waterproofing, thermal envelope, elevation limits, and other complex issues. This program will provide the attendees with a solid background to solve these problems.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Attendees will gain insight into how to select an appropriate roofing and overburden assembly for their specific project conditions.
  • This program will provide information which can be used to create a system that meets the local code requirements related to the thermal blanket while taking into consideration restrictions related to elevations or existing conditions like flashing height, door threshold height, mechanical equipment, or existing flashings.
  • Providing compatibility within the assembly for electronic leak detection surveys as a QC function and later as a tool to find potential issues will also be introduced.
  • Selecting the appropriate configurations for green overburden assemblies based on the design requirements of the project will be presented as a variety of options.
