High Speed, High Performance Doors: Increasing Safety, Energy Savings and Productivity for Food & Beverage, Life Science Facilities

The purpose of this course is to educate the architect/designer as to the benefits of using a high speed, high cycle door within a food & beverage, life science, processing, distribution or cold storage facility. These benefits include but are not limited to; increased safety within and around door openings, energy savings, improved traffic flow and lower maintenance cost.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Define high-performance door systems and distinguish them from conventional doors commonly used in food, beverage, and life science facilities.
  • Explain the key features and performance benefits of high-performance doors for food, beverage, and life science facilities, including how these features support health, safety, and welfare through environmental separation, controlled access, and safe movement of people and equipment.
  • Determine appropriate applications for high-performance doors within different areas of food, beverage, and life science facilities based on functional, operational, and environmental conditions.
  • Identify key considerations when selecting and applying high-performance doors in these facilities, including traffic flow, user interaction, security, and overall impact on building performance and occupant experience.
