Daylight is a key factor for health and wellness, and being central to energy-savings strategies and being a part of sustainability strategies. This seminar will provide detailed information on utilizing daylight and meeting requirements for managing glare and controlling for solar radiation, while gaining benefits of daylight and views.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Understand the conflicting factors and interrelationships of building design, glazing materials, space utilization, occupant comfort, and shadecloth selection.
  • Review shadecloth compositions and its relevance to all stakeholders.
  • Recognize the role of daylight within the built environment and its impact on occupants and energy usage.
  • Define solar optical properties concepts, openness factor, and color selection of textiles.
