Comparing Indoor Air Quality and Heating/Cooling Energy of Apartments with Natural Ventilation vs. Energy Recovery Ventilation (Case Study)

Participants in this course will confront the range of regulatory, programmatic, and budgetary factors that influence the selection of ventilation solutions and then consider the outcomes of those options. A multi-family case study will demonstrate different methods and results within a nearly identical building typology with similar occupancy, affording the opportunity to better isolate the outcome of the ventilation methods.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Recognize the factors that drive ventilation requirements and correlate potential ventilation solutions.
  • Identify methods for evaluating air quality performance in occupied residential buildings.
  • Analyze space conditioning energy consumption as it relates to ventilation.
  • Compare the impact of natural ventilation vs. energy recovery ventilation and summarize the consequences of specifying one or the other.

Approximately 1 hour. Delivered via webinar or face-to-face presentation. Available sessions shown below.
