Architectural & Security, Gate & Fencing Systems

This course illustrates how architectural gate and fencing systems can be designed to meet modern security and design requirements while harmonizing with their surrounding environment. Fencing and gate systems are discussed in terms of their composition, materials, coatings, finishes, and performance in interior and exterior applications.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Identify a wide range of exterior and interior applications of today's fence and gate systems based on their functional, decorative, and security requirements
  • Discuss today's fence and gate systems in terms of their composition, materials, coatings, and finishes as well as classify gate track configurations, hardware, hinges, and locking mechanisms
  • Identify the performance elements of various types of fencing systems, and the attributes of a variety of infill panel designs.
  • Assess factors such as security, efficiency, aesthetics, and the surrounding environment, and specify the most appropriate gate and/or fencing system for a specific application
