How Energy Codes Effect Plug Load and Lighting Controls

Energy codes at all levels increasingly focus on reducing energy consumption, saving consumers money, and reducing CO2 emissions. New and updated energy codes play an essential role in the performance of buildings. This course examines the lighting requirements and provisions of ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2019 and the 2021 International Energy Conservation CodeĀ® (IECC) and focuses on plug and lighting control strategies for energy efficiency.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Recall energy code benefits for buildings and the environment, what they cover, and how they evolve
  • Identify the most appropriate code compliance method and applicable codes
  • Specify the appropriate plug and lighting control requirements
  • Design lighting control systems to save energy, reduce costs, and improve overall system performance
  • Identify code-compliant energy efficient lighting control strategies for each building space
