The Benefits of Building with Fiberglass-Reinforced Plastic (FRP)

This course examines why Fiber-Reinforced Plastic (FRP) is a superior alternative to traditional materials in demanding environments. Participants will explore FRP’s core advantages, including corrosion resistance, electrical non-conductivity, and a 70% weight reduction compared to steel. The session demonstrates how these properties enhance project design, accelerate installation, and solve complex engineering challenges across multiple industries.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Summarize how the primary components, the pultrusion or molding processes, and the different resin formulations are combined to create FRP products that can meet specific application requirements.
  • Recall the performance properties and construction and long-term benefits of FRP that contribute to project safety, durability, aesthetics, and cost savings.
  • Describe FRP products, including gratings, sound barrier walls, guardrails, handrails, stairs, and ladders, that offer slip resistance and withstand corrosion, UV damage, impact, and more for a long-lasting, safe user environment.
  • Discuss the industries and applications that benefit from FRP products, especially those that contend with corrosive environments, harsh weather conditions, wet walking surfaces, fire risk, or electrical safety issues.

Approximately 1 hour. Delivered via webinar or face-to-face presentation. Available sessions shown below.
