SMART VENT Certified Automatic Foundation Flood Vents
Each 16” x 8” SMART VENT is certified to provide 200 sq/ft of flood protection for an enclosed area. SMART VENT products are code compliant, FEMA accepted, and ICC-ES Evaluated. We have various models of vents including dual-function (flood protection + air ventilation), insulated, wood wall, overhead door, combination/industrial models as well as Pour-in-Place Buck systems and accessories including interior sleeve & trim kits, UL-certified fire dampers, rain shields, etc.

The all stainless steel construction meets or exceeds flood and corrosion resistance code requirements. The SMART VENT door is latched closed until flood water enters. Flood water lifts the internal floats which unlatches and rotates the door open inside the frame. This allows the flood water to automatically enter and exit through the frame opening, relieving the pressure from the foundation walls. The louvers are not relied on to let the water in and out. They are for ventilation only. Regardless of the louvers’ position, opened or closed, when flood water flows into the door, the internal floats release the door to rotate open to relieve the hydrostatic pressure. The louvers and pest screen are rotated out of the path of the flood water. No electricity is required.
